Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polished

We all know the level of my obsession with highlighters- I'm all about that glow. My usual highlight of choice- my beloved Mary Lou Manizer- had been feeling extra golden toned lately (it's possible that I'm actually getting paler. In August. Thanks for that, Scottish summertime) so I was on the lookout for something a little more pink toned.

I'd heard good things about the Topshop Glow Highlighter- Kate La Vie bangs on about the shade Gleam all the time- but when I swatched it, I realised it was very golden toned and a bit too similar to Mary Lou Manizer to justify buying it.

But then, imagine my joy to realise that it came in another shade- Polished. This one has a much more neutral, pinkish tone to it which is a bit more flattering on my ghostly skin. It's a cream formula, so it's not something I use constantly as I just find powders much easier to apply. But lately, I've been gravitating towards creams as I just love the luminosity they give to the skin.

This highlighter is perfect for that- it's not too shimmery or glittery, it just leaves the skin looking perfect and glowy and does my face look like that beauty filter on Snapchat yet?

Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick in 06 Golden Brown

Again, with the cream products, I've really been loving this cream eyeshadow stick from Kiko. I bought this quite a while ago and never really used it, but recently I've been using it almost constantly.
I may have mentioned before my complete noob status when it comes to eyeshadow. I tend to keep my eye looks very natural because, when I try to branch out and go for a smokey eye, I basically end up with this situation. It's super attractive.

But this product makes it so easy- swipe it all over the lid, blend out and you're left with a bronze smokey eye. When blended through the crease, it turns to a slightly darker, almost purple, colour which makes you look like you've made a lot of effort when, realistically, you've actually just haphazardly slapped it on after sleeping in, because reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child until 3 in the morning was more important than sleep. (Okay, perhaps that one's just me.)

Urban Decay Naked Palette On days when I'm feeling like something less intense, I've been reaching for my Naked Palette. I've had this for few years now and it's still going strong (please, let's not discuss the hygiene issue of keeping eyeshadow palettes for years. You will pry this thing from my cold, dead fingers). While it's great for golden, bronzey kind of looks (Smog is gorgeous for that), the shades I tend to reach for most are on the lighter side of the palette. Naked is an amazing colour for in the crease, and Virgin might just be my perfect inner corner highlight.

For all over the lid, I love Sin- it's the most gorgeous pinky, shimmery colour which is amazing at brightening up the eyes.

Soap and Glory Supercat Skinny Eyeliner
This was actually a recent purchase, prompted by the fact that every one of my eyeliners decided to run out at the same time. Why does this always happen?

I had tried to original Supercat liner and wasn't a big fan. I like my eyeliner very thin and the nib on the original was just a bit too thick to get my liner the way I like it. But this liner is much better- the nib is super fine and pointed so it makes it much easier to get a fine line and a wing sharp enough to kill a man.

I tried this liner for the first time the other day and was told by my sister that my liner was 'on fleek', so this thing must be damn good because my liner skills are mediocre at best (there's always a lot of cotton buds involved).

Topshop Lipstick in Rio Rio
I love a bold red lip all year round, but summertime tends to be when I break out the orangey reds. I have a few in this category, but my all-time favourite is still this Topshop lipstick.

It's the perfect summer red for me- it has an amazing orangey tone that brightens things up and makes you look like you're jetting off on a beach holiday (I wish) but it's not so orange that it makes pale people like me look weird and washed out.

I've been loving pairing this with breton stripe tops (something I have in abundance)- it makes me feel very chic and Pinterest-y and usually results in me sauntering around like I'm being photographed. I mean, I probably look rather silly but at least I feel chic. Ignorance is bliss and all that.

  1. I'm currently using my Naked 2 palette, and a very sheer coral lipstick from Barry M
